I bought a ProCo Rat late last year and I was really pleased with it. However I needed more space on my pedalboard so I decided to make a smaller version of it.
I bought the PCB from TonePad. I have bought numerous PCBs from them, the most recent being for Warren’s Hot Black Desiato. The rest of the bits were sourced from Maplin, RS and my junkbox.
It’s always going to be used on my pedalboard with a power supply so I never planned to put a battery in it. Good job really as there wasn’t any room! The power jack also has to be mounted off centre so that the pots fitted in: -
The wonky pot on the right is due to the fact that I didn’t remove the tab before mounting it. It was fixed in the final version.
After the unit was built, I was quite impressed by how the layout panned out.
Finally (for now) a couple of pics of the final built item: -
I’m going to make a graphic for it when I get my label printer working with Windows 7!
